  • Distance: Over 60 km of trails
  • Location: Follow signs from downtown Canmore.
  • Description: Originally developed for cross-country skiing and biathlon events during the 1988 Winter Olympics, the Nordic Centre now features over 60 km of trails ranging from rolling doubletrack to challenging singletrack. It’s also been a World Cup mountain biking venue. Trail Sports at the Bill Warren Centre offers bike rentals, lessons, and guided tours.

Goat Creek Trail

  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Distance: 18 km to Banff
  • Elevation Change: -300 m
  • Time: 1–3 hours (one-way)
  • Location: Drive 9 km south on the Smith-Dorrien/Spray Trail (Hwy 742) from Canmore. The trailhead is in the parking lot.
  • Description: This family-friendly gravel and dirt doubletrack mostly descends to Banff. To make it easier, park one vehicle in Banff and another at the trailhead. For a longer adventure, combine this trail with the Rundle Riverside Trail for a 48.4 km loop around Mount Rundle.
